CINCINNATI, OH. (THECOUNT) — Marquis Colbert has been identified as the pedestrian fatally struck Tuesday night while attempting to cross a Cincinnati street, according to reports.
Colbert, 39, was struck twice by vehicles traveling on Colerain Avenue late on Christmas Eve, first while crossing the street, then again as he lay injured.
According to officials, Colbert was on-foot in the area of 4406 Colerain Avenue around 10:30 p.m. when he was struck by a passing pair of vehicles.
Colbert was reportedly crossing west across the road outside a marked crosswalk when the driver of an unknown vehicle traveling northbound hit him, reports Cincinnati.
Police say the vehicle that initially struck Colbert fled the scene.
Sometime later, a 15-year-old girl driving a 2007 Nissan Altima reportedly struck Colbert a second time as he was lying in the street.
Colbert was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police say they do not know if excessive speed or impairment are factors in the crash.
Anyone with possible information on the incident should contact police.
