LAGRANGE COUNTY, IN. (THECOUNT) — Tonya Yoder of Shipshewana, Indiana, has been identified as the victim in a fatal crash near Lagrange County on Wednesday.
Yoder, 29, died in an Indiana-120 vehicle crash involving a Saturn and a Jaguar Wednesday afternoon, according to the Lagrange County Sheriff’s Office.
Jason Yoder, 34, was operating a Jaguar traveling eastbound on IN-120, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing traffic on Wednesday.
The Jaguar then struck the Saturn Ion head-on.
Both vehicles sustained significant damage, deputies said.
Jason Yoder was trapped and had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was transported to the hospital for minor injuries and was released, reports ABC57.
Jason told investigators he fell asleep at the wheel, according to deputies.
Tonya Yoder was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
A passenger riding in the Saturn was transported to an area hospital and treated for minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
