FRESNO, CA. (THECOUNT) — A 17-year-old California girl was arrested after she boarded a Beechcraft King Air 200 twin-propeller, and crashed it into a fence at the Fresno Yosemite International Airport, according to reports.

The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday after the girl gained access to the aircraft and was able to fire it up. The girl’s mother later said her daughter “didn’t even know how to drive a car.”

The teen was able to get the aircraft moving and headed for a FAT runway before pivoting and crashing into a fence.

The bird never went airborne.

According to the girl’s mother, her daughter, who has not been identified, ran away from home Tuesday night.

The mother says her daughter has never run away before.

The aircraft reportedly sustained substantial damage, airport officials say.

Airport officials say the 17-year-old was disoriented and uncooperative when she was taken into custody for theft of an aircraft, reports KMPH.

Fresno Yosemite International Airport is currently working with the Federal Aviation Administration and other authorities investigating this incident.
