COLLIER COUNTY, FL. (THECOUNT) — Perry Switzen, of Naples Florida, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Monday crash that occurred near his Par Drive home, according to officials. Switzen’s wife, Rosalie, was also involved in the crash and was hospitalized in unknown condition.

Switzen, 72, was killed in a car crash in Collier County Monday night after a vehicle operated by 28-year-old Jorge Herrarte failed to yield to slower moving traffic.

Switzen, whose father was a liberator, was killed in the wreck on Randall Boulevard near the Valencia Golf & Country Club, where the couple resided.

A crash report states that a vehicle behind Switzen slowed, but another car driven by Herrarte didn’t slow down in time. Troopers say he swerved left into the westbound lanes and T-Boned Switzen’s vehicle as he attempted to perform a left-hand turn.

FHP says charges are pending against Herrarte but did not further elaborate.
