HANCOCK COUNTY, IN. (THECOUNT) — Amy Cox and Isaac Cox have been identified as the mother and son killed in a Monday morning crash in Hancock County, according to reports.
The mother and son died following a crash early Monday morning near County Road 200 South and County Road 200 West in Center, Indiana.
Hancock County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of a vehicle crash near County Road 200 South and County Road 200 West just after 6 a.m. When they arrived, first responders discovered a crash involving a 2019 Ford F-350 and a 2006 Chevrolet HHR.
The passenger of the Chevrolet HHR were found to be unresponsive.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses at the scene told deputies that the Chevrolet HHR was traveling north on CR 200 West when it lost control and spun into the southbound lanes where it was struck by the F-350, reports TheIndyChannel.
The 21-year-old driver of the truck was transported to the hospital to be checked out. Police say he is cooperating with their investigation and speed, drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
Weather conditions likely played a role in the violent crash.
