DICKINSON, ND. (THECOUNT) — Shawn Flaherty, basketball coach for the Tigers, has been identified as the victim in a multiple-vehicle crash Wednesday in Dickinson, North Dakota, according to reports.
Flaherty, 64, of New England, was killed after being involved in a head-on vehicle crash on Wednesday, say NDHP.
Sergio Ruiz Ledezma, 58, of Dickinson, was operating a vehicle on State Avenue around 4 p.m. Wednesday, when for unknown reasons, he crossed centerlines and into opposing traffic. He then struck Flaherty’s SUV head-on.
Flaherty was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
Ledezma was transported to an area hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
The driver of the other pickup was not hurt, reports Inforum.
The Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate.
