OH Man Joseph Mermer ID’d As Victim Found Dead Inside Toledo Home Thursday ‘Very Bloody Scene’

TOLEDO, OH. (THECOUNT) — Joseph Mermer, of Swanton, Ohio, has been identified as the victim found dead inside a Toledo residence on Thursday, according to Friday morning reports.

Mermer, 40, was found deceased inside the South King Road home in a “very bloody scene,” according to Lucas County Sheriff officials.

Lucas County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a report of a body found in the 800 block of S King Road near Angola on Thursday afternoon.

According to law enforcement, a family friend reportedly went to perform a welfare check on Mermer and found the house to be locked.

The friend then gained access to the home through a first-floor window. It was at that time the friend discovered Mermer’s body in a pool of blood.

The Lucas County Sheriff’s Department said a call came in just before 1 p.m. to Springfield Fire and Rescue about an injured man found dead at the residence in Springfield Township.

A dog was taken from the property by Lucas County Canine Care and Control. It’s not known if the dog has any connection to the scene.

The scene is not yet being called suspicious or criminal, but it is under investigation. It’s unknown how long the man was living at the property, however, public records show Mermer residing at 2839 County Road H
in Swanton, OH, reports WTOL.

Local media reports listed Mermer’s age as a 48-year-old. TheCount.news believes he may have been 40 years old at the time of his death.
