WATERBURY, CT. (THECOUNT) — Retired New Haven police officer, Eric Jones, has been identified as the body found, along with a female victim, shot to death in their Waterbury bedroom on Thursday, according to reports.

Jones, who worked for the New Haven Police Department for over 20 years, was found dead, along with his wife, at their Perkins Avenue residence on Thursday.

The couple were discovered Thursday afternoon in a bedroom in a Perkins Avenue condo complex, according to Friday reports.

New Haven police are in touch with Waterbury police as the investigation proceeds, according New Haven Chief Otoniel Reyes, reports NewHavenIndependent.

“It’s very tragic. We’re very sorry to hear of the loss of a former police officer,” Reyes said.

A cause of death was not provided for the deceased couple.

Jones attended Hamden High School and Southern Connecticut State University.
