DETROIT TOWNSHIP, MN. (THECOUNT) — James D. Gunthorpe, of Detroit Lakes, Minnesoda, has been identified as the pedestrian struck and killed by a semi truck this morning, Wednesday, according to reports.
Gunthorpe, 57, was fatally struck while on-foot in the area of Highway 59 at Brandy Lake Road in Detroit Lakes Wednesday.
The accident occurred at 5:45 a.m. A 2018 Kenworth Semi was traveling northbound on Highway 59, according to the report. The pedestrian was in the northbound lane of traffic when he was struck, reports DLOnline.
Gunthorpe was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma.
The driver of the semi, Ronald Eugene Spradling, 64, of Pine City and his passenger, Catherine Ann Spradling, also 64 and of Pine City, were not injured, according to the DLOnline.
Both were wearing seat belts, and alcohol was not involved, according to the report.
