MADISON HEIGHTS, VA. (THECOUNT) — Melvin L. Dillard, of Amherst, Virginia, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Sunday night single-vehicle crash near Madison Heights, according to reports.
Dillard, 55, was killed in a pickup truck crash around 6:15 p.m. Sunday while in the area of Madison Heights.
The victim was operating a F-250 on Virginia 130 at Mount Sinai Road in Madison Heights, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway. The pickup then struck an embankment, a highway sign and a guardrail before coming to a rest.
Dillard was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
A crash report noted that the victim was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the violent crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
A 1999 Ford F-250 truck was heading east on Virginia 130 when it ran off the right side of the road, where it hit an embankment and a highway sign before crossing over the highway and into the left guardrail, according to the release, reports NewsAdvance.
