Halupowski pleaded guilty to the charges of second degree assault outside The Nines Hotel and on Friday he was sentenced to near six years in prison.
His attorney Edward Kroll said that his client made “a really terrible decision” and that the victim did not deserve the assault he got.
But, he complained, that his client received “one of the harshest sentences I’ve seen for someone with no criminal background and young age,” reports TheFederalistPapers.
Multnomah County Deputy District Attorney Melissa Marrero said that her office is not picking sides on politics and still has charges pending for others involved with the protests.
