Denton TX Police Officer Critical Following Tuesday Morning Taco Bell Shooting

DENTON, TX. (THECOUNT) — Denton Police are investigating after an officer was critically wounded along with two suspects in a shooting near University Drive just after midnight early Tuesday morning, according to reports.

The officer-involved shooting occurred outside a Taco Bell near Georgetown Drive and The Wash Factory Car Wash, early Tuesday, police said.

The officer is currently in critical condition at a local hospital.

Carrollton Police confirm they made an arrest in the case.

Officers heard a “be-on-the-lookout” broadcast for a Chevy Malibu after the shooting. Carrollton officers spotted that car along Sandy Lake Road and gave chase, a police spokesman said. The chase went down the George Bush Turnpike before the suspects pulled off and stopped at a RaceTrac gas station on Valley View Lane at Luna, reports DWFCBS.

When officers were placing the suspects under arrest they observed both suspect were suffering from gunshot injuries.

Carrollton Police say they did not shoot the suspects.

Both suspects were transported to area hospitals. Their current condition were not provided by officials.
