PORT ST. LUCIE, FL. (THECOUNT) — Paige Barrett, of Palm City, FL, has been identified as the victim who was killed in a Port St. Lucie boat crash Sunday night, according to reports. A 1-year-old child, identified as Hudson Matakaetis, was also killed in the crash.

Authorities say, Barrett, 28, and 1-year-old Matakaetis, were killed and six others were injured in an Intracoastal Waterway Florida boat crash in Martin County Sunday night.

Treasure Coast Newspapers reports that it happened Sunday night in the Intracoastal Waterway.

The victims were reportedly ejected from the watercraft during the double-fatal Sunday incident.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says the 26-foot center-console boat with eight occupants was traveling near Sandsprit Park and the town of Sewall’s Point when the vessel hit a channel marker. Five people were thrown from the boat, including Barrett and Matakaetis, reports TheHour.

Barrett and Matakaetis were transported to an area hospital where they were later pronounced dead.

A cause of death was not provided by officials.

The cause of the fatal crash remains under investigation.
