SHREVEPORT, LA. (THECOUNT) — Jarvis Coleman has been identified as the victim fatally shot in Shreveport on Saturday, according to reports.

Coleman, 37, was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound in Shreveport’s Morningside neighborhood early Saturday.

Shreveport police have named the suspect in the deadly incident as 44-year-old Jerome Johnson. He has been charged with Second Degree Murder, in Coleman’s death.

Johnson is actively being sought.

According to the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office, Coleman, of Shreveport, was shot in the head shortly after 4 a.m. while inside a vehicle at Wallace Avenue and West 69th Street. He died a short time later at Ochsner LSU Health, reports KSLA.

Coleman was positively identified through fingerprint comparison.

Anyone with knowledge of Johnson’s whereabouts should contact police immediately at 911.

Friends and family members took to Facebook to remember Coleman, one pointing out a prophetic final Facebook post, posted by Coleman hours before he was shot dead. The post read, “If your absence doesn’t bother them, then your presence never mattered:”
