KNOXVILLE, IA. (THECOUNT) — A 56-year-old woman was killed while attending a gender reveal party in Knoxville, Iowa on Saturday after being struck by debris following an explosion, according to reports.
The victim, who has not yet been identified, was attending the gender reveal party in Knoxville on Saturday, when the gender “reveal” portion of the party created debris that fatally struck her.
The Marion County Sheriff’s office says the explosion happened at a home in central Iowa around 4 p.m. Saturday during a party to announce the gender of a baby a couple is expecting.
Deputies arrived at the home in Knoxville to find the woman dead.
Investigators determined that an explosion during the gender reveal announcement caused the woman’s death, reports KSFY.
The exact type device used in the gender reveal was not provided by officials.
