CHARLESTOWN, RI. (THECOUNT) — Philip A. Bode, of Charlestown, Rhode Island, has been identified as the victim killed in a Friday night single-vehicle crash in Charlestown, according to reports.
“Phil” Bode, 44, died following a crash along Ross Hill Road late Friday night, Charlestown police said Saturday.
According to officials, Bode may have been speeding around 11:45 p.m. when he suffered fatal injuries in a crash on Friday night.
Bode was operating a Jeep Cherokee, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway. The vehicle then collided with a sunstaital tree.
Bode was pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation determined that he was traveling south at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a curve and went off the western side of the road, striking the tree, reports RICenreal.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
