MONTGOMERY, AL. (THECOUNT) — Verna Johnson was in desperate need of a kidney so she launched a campaign to find a donor to participate in the life-saving procedure. That was back in May, and we are now learning her quest paid off.

After recently rolling out her “Verna Needs A Kidney” campaign, Johnson received that long-awaited phone call telling her that a donor had been located.

Johnson was diagnosed with kidney disease in 2017 and has been on the kidney transplant waiting list ever since but to no avail. That’s when Johnson took matters into her own hands.

“Billboards, social media, news outlets, Facebook, whatever you can think of to help get the word out because if you shout it out loud, somebody’s going to hear you,” Johnson said.

“I literally lost it. I almost passed out. I was so happy,” Johnson said, reports Live5News.

Johnson says after she received the good news her and family went out to celebrate with friends.
