LA CROSSE, WI. (THECOUNT) — La Crosse Police have identified the suspect involved in an unprovoked attack on a Rudy’s Drive In employee last week as 21-year-old Gerald P. Pemberton, 21, of Onalaska. He is not in custody.

Pemberton is accused in the brutal attack on Jim Davenport, who was headed to his maintenance job at Rudy’s at about 4 o’clock Sunday morning.

After approaching him near the business Pemberton blindsided Davenport with a powerful punch to the face. The force of the hit knocked out several of of the worker’s teeth and left him dazed and bloodied.

Pemberton currently has a warrant for his arrest issued in Monroe County. Law enforcement says Pemberton will likely be referred in La Crosse County Court for Felony Substantial Battery and Disorderly Conduct relating to the incident at Rudy’s, reports News8000.

Pemberton is 6′ tall, 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Pemberton’s last known address is on Franklin Street in Onalaska, according to the La Crosse Police Department’s Facebook Page.

The video shows the man punching Davenport in the face. Before he knew it, he was on the ground and his attacker was running away.

Davenport works two jobs. He grew up in La Crosse and has worked for Rudy’s for 30-plus years. He’s still trying to make sense of this whole incident.
