GoFundMe For Dornell Cousette AL Police Officer Shot Dead In Tuscaloosa Monday

TUSCALOOSA, AL. (THECOUNT) — Tuscaloosa Police confirm Dornell Cousette was the officer was shot and killed Monday afternoon in the city’s West End, according to reports.

Cousette, 40, was a 13-year veteran of the force. He leaves behind two young daughters and was engaged to soon be married.

A GoFundMe was created by Townsquare Media. They say they will give all of the funds donated directly to the Cousette family.

The Tuscaloosa Officer was killed in the line of duty last night, and a scholarship fund has been started in his honor.

Officer Cousette was serving a warrant on a suspect on Monday evening when the suspect fled into a house. Cousette followed the suspect into the home where the two exchanged gunfire. Cousette was shot in the head and transported to DCH Regional Medical Center where he died around 8 p.m.

Officer Cousette was a veteran of the United States Army and a graduate of Alabama State University. He joined the Tuscaloosa Police Department in 2006. Mayor Walt Maddox called Cousette a hero at a press conference last night, stating that Cousette left behind two daughters and a fiancee.
