STUTSMAN COUNTY, ND. (THECOUNT) — North Dakota authorities say they have recovered the body of missing Hammond, Wisconsin man, Gage Laper, on Friday.
Laper, 20, was found dead in a rural area of Stutsman County, North Dakota, according to Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser.
Deputies responded the a wooded area near Windsor Friday morning on reports of a body found, according to Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser. Kaiser said Laper was later pulled from a body water near a sluice at around 10:30 a.m.
Foul play isn’t suspected in his death at this time, according to the sheriff.
Laper was reportedly driving to Colorado when his car got stuck in mud Sunday.
Officials say, Laper contacted his mother notifying her he couldn’t move and she tried making arrangements for a tow truck, however, the connection dropped.
Laper’s cell phone was recovered Thursday along a property’s fence line, according to ValleyNewsLive.
Federal and state agencies assisted the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office in the department’s effort to locate Laper.
Kaiser said Laper has no ties to North Dakota.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of his death.
