CAMDEN COUNTY, MO. (THECOUNT) — Sean Burgess, of Peoria, Illinois, has been identified as the drowning victim in the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri on Saturday afternoon.

Burgess, 23, was reportedly participating in a boat race Saturday afternoon when he was reported missing by his group.

Witnesses told authorities Burgess was last seen on a ‘Maui Mat’ float pad by his friends and family watching the Lake Shootout. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said on Twitter Burgess jumped off a floating pad and didn’t resurface, reports CentralIllinoisProud.

MSHP and Mid-County dive team recovered Burgess’ body at 10:47 p.m. in 37 feet of water.
