PUTNAM COUNTY, TN. (THECOUNT) — Michael Silvey, of Cookeville, TN, has been identified as the victim killed in a wrong-way driver crash in Putnam County on Saturday.
Silvey, 37, was killed in a crash that occurred around 10:30 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 40 in Putnam County. His 8-year-old passenger was injured.
Silvey was operating a vehicle traveling the wrong-way on I-40, causing several vehicles to attempt avoidance maneuvers.
Four vehicles collided with Silvey’s pick-up truck, killing Silvey and injuring his eight-year-old male passenger, reports WKRN.
The child was transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries.
Amazingly, no other injuries were reported.
The crash remains under investigation but officials do suspect intoxication as a factor in the crash.
