ROCKFORD, IL. (THECOUNT) — Phillip Butler and Trifari Hughes have been identified as the men shot and killed in Rockford, Illinois on Monday night.
Butler, 30, and Hughes, 29, were fatally shot while outside in the 2000 block of Hutchins Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Monday night.

The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office says gunshot wounds are the preliminary cause of death for both victims.
The deadly incident occurred near Hutchins Avenue and Pearl Street on Monday night.
Police say Butler and Hughes were outside Monday around 8:30 p.m. when they were shot in the 2000 block of Hutchins Avenue. When police arrived, they say one man appeared to be dead on the scene, and the other man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, reports WIFR.
Officers have not yet determined a suspect.
The Rockford Police Department are investigating the deaths as a double homicide.
