PA Man Wyatt Dettinger Suspect In Monday Wellsville Murder Of Father Duane Dettinger

WELLSVILLE, PA. (THECOUNT) — Wyatt Dettinger, of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, has been identified as the suspect accused of fatally shooting his father, Duane Dettinger, of Wellsville, Pennsylvania, on Monday.

Dettinger, 21, is facing charges that include criminal homicide after shooting his own father dead during an argument.

The deadly incident occurred around 11 p.m. Monday at a home on Carroll Street in Wellsville, according to WGAL.

The complaint said Dettinger fled the scene with a 17-year-old girl. When police later tried to pull their car over, Dettinger abandoned the vehicle and ran into the woods near Northern York High School, to which he is an alum.

Dettinger was in possession of a firearm at the time he was taken into custody, the formal complaint said.

Another woman was also in the home at the time of the shooting and ran to a neighbor’s home for help, the complaint said. Neighbors said the woman is the victim’s girlfriend.
