WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY. (THECOUNT) — New York congressman, Sean Patrick Maloney says his family members were among those injured in a small plane crash on Friday.

Four Maloney family members aboard a Piper PA46 were critically injured when the plane crash landed while traveling from Ohio to Rhode Island.

Three other passengers were also injured while attempting to land at Hudson Valley Regional Airport, on New Hackensack Road, in Wappingers Falls, NY.

The four victims are Rep Sean Patrick Maloney’s extended family members., reports DailyNews.

Maloney said in a Facebook post that the crash occurred Friday afternoon as his husband Randy’s relatives were on a trip from Ohio to Rhode Island.

Their plane crashed ‘just a few miles’ from the Representative’s home in the Hudson Valley.

‘The family involved were the in-laws of Randy’s cousin, Laurieanne Florke Scott (her husband John’s brother David and his wife and two kids),’ Maloney shared in the Facebook post.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the aircraft was attempting to land at Hudson Valley Regional Airport when it crashed less than a mile away from the runway.

The plane was reportedly trying to make an emergency landing because it was running on gas.

The injured family members were not immediately identified.

The FAA is investigating the incident.
