KALAMAZOO, MI. (THECOUNT) — Shequita Lewis has been identified as the victim fatally shot inside a Kalamazoo, Michigan home Monday.
Lewis, 36, who served on two Kalamazoo advisory boards and ran for County Commission in 2018, was shot while inside a residence in Kalamazoo on Monday afternoon.
Police say they responded to calls of shots fired 12:30 p.m. at a home in the 1300 block of North Church Street.
Once on the scene, police discovered Lewis on the kitchen floor suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
She was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced.
A 36-year old man was on the front porch outside when police arrived. He was arrested. Police have not revealed his identity at this time, reports WWMT.
