TN Man Gerard Leo ID’d As Victim In Monday Fatal Chattanooga Crash

CHATTANOOGA, TN. (THECOUNT) — Gerard Leo has been identified as the victim in a two-vehicle crash in Chattanooga Monday afternoon, according to reports.

Leo, 61, was operating a vehicle before 12:30 p.m. in the area of Bailey Ave & S Holtzclaw Ave, in Chattanooga Monday, when he ran a red light and was t-boned by another driver.

The name of the 62-year-old driver will be withheld because he is not facing charges from the crash, say officials.

Chattanooga police are investigating the deadly crash which occurred before 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Bailey and S. Holtzclaw Avenues.

Police say 61-year-old man Leo was driving on S. Holtzclaw Avenue, ran the red light at the intersection where he was T-boned by a 62-year-old man who was driving on Bailey Avenue, reports WRCBTV.

Leo was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

The crash shut down area roads, but all lanes have reopened.

Police say 13 crashes have been reported at the intersection of Bailey/S. Holtzclaw Avenues since January 1, 2018. That number does not include the deadly crash on July 1. Injuries were reported in the three of the 13 crashes.
