MIAMI, FL. (THECOUNT) — Democratic presidential hopeful, Andrew Yang, is claiming his microphone was malfunctioning during Thursday night’s Democratic primary debate.
Yang, 44, claimed in a post-debate video that there were several times during Thursday’s debate when he attempted to pipe up on a subject and found his microphone turned off.
Yang’s comments spurred the hashtag #LetYangSpeak to start trending on Twitter Friday morning following the Democratic presidential debate in Miami, Florida.
When Yang was told by supporters that he should have talked more during the debate, the entrepreneur claimed his mic was likely being turned off and on by production, noting that he tried to offer his take during a few topics but his “mic was off,” reports DailyWire.
“There were also a few times, FYI, where I just started talking, to be like, ‘hey, I wanna add something there,’ and my mic was not on,” Yang said, adding, “I was talking and nothing was happening, and I was like, ah, ****.”
“…Again, there were times when I was like, I wanna make a contribution on Climate Change, or education, or other things and my mic didn’t work — your mic is actually not on,” Yang claimed. “So I would just started talking, and then like the moderators were just like, ignore him, it doesn’t matter.”
“So the moderators have a fair amount of power and authority,” he continued, “including someone in production turning on a mic or not. “
Yang finished by saying he plans on taking measures so the problem does not occur at future debates.
