BURLINGTON, CT. (THECOUNT) — Connecticut man, Frederick Manka, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Thursday night crash in Burlington.
“Fred” Manka, 48, was killed in a crash on Route 4 in Burlington around 10 p.m. on Thursday evening, according to Police.
According to officials, Manka of Unionville was operating a vehicle, when for unknown reasons, he crossed centerlines and exited the roadway.
The vehicle then collided with a Chevrolet SUV traveling in the opposite direction.
Manka was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of multiple blunt force trauma injuries sustained in the crash.
Joseph Wilusz of Burlington was the driver of the vehicle that was struck by Manka. Police said Wilusz suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries, reports WFSB.
A passenger traveling in Wilusz’s vehicle was uninjured in the crash, Police said.
LifeStar Helicopter was requested to the scene but could not fly due to weather conditions.
An investigation into the cause of the crash remains open and active.
