SOUTH HERO, VT. (THECOUNT) — Wayne Bailey, of West Berlin, Vermont, has been identified as the victim in a fatal boating accident on Lake Champaign on Saturday.
Bailey, 63, was aboard a boat on Lake Champaign when the vessel capsized, say Vermont State Police.
Police say they responded to reports of an overturned boat on Saturday. Bailey’s brother, 70-year-old Eric Bailey, of East Calais, survived in ordeal.
Multiple agencies responded to the incident that unfolded near Stave Island in South Hero at around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, reports Seattlepi.
Wayne Bailey was recovered from the water and pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
Vermont State Police said the medical examiner’s report on the cause of death is pending.
