VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. (THECOUNT) — DeWayne Craddock has been identified as the Virginia Beach mass shooter.

Craddock, 40, worked as a certified professional engineer for the city of Virginia Beach in its Public Utilities Department. There are conflicting reports regarding Craddock’s current employment status, with some reports saying he had been terminated.

Virginia Beach police and other emergency services responded to an active shooter incident at the city’s Municipal Center on Friday afternoon.

Multiple people were injured in the incident, according to an emergency services spokesperson who would not comment on the condition of the victims.

It’s unclear how many total victims there were. However, five patients were transported to Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital and one victim is currently being transported to its Level I Trauma Center, according to Dale Gauding, senior communications advisor for brand engagement at Sentara Healthcare, reports ABC.

The suspected shooter is in custody, according to the Virginia Beach Police Department.
