ESSEX COUNTY, NJ. (THECOUNT) — Troubled comedian Artie Lange has been arrested in an Essex County halfway house Tuesday morning, according to the Essex County Sheriff’s department.

Lange, 51, was “apprehended without incident” at the Freedom House in New Jersey, according to a law enforcement official who believed the court order involved alleged probation violation related to a 2017 drug charge.

Essex County Sheriff officers arrested Lange at the halfway house where he was supposed to have been on a warrant that was issued Monday.

“He’s using up our resources when we have better things to do,” according to a spokesman with the Essex County Sheriff, reports NYDailyNews.

Lange was awake “and appeared to be sober and coherent” at the time of his apprehension, the Daily News is told.

He is expected to be delivered to county jail sometime Tuesday and is unlikely to make a public appearance. Lange’s latest brush with the law appears to be more an annoyance than a concern to law enforcement.

A sheriff’s office official said Monday, “Artie Lange’s drug problems aren’t at the top of our list” and cracked that investigators would prefer to focus on things like “ax murderers.”
