ELK GROVE, CA. (THECOUNT) — Megan “Monster” Hawkins has been identified as the suspect arrested Friday at an Elk Grove, California bank after a witness recognized her from the Netflix show “Jailbirds.”
Authorities say, Hawkins was taken into custody on suspicion of unlawfully using personal information after attempting to open a checking and savings account in Elk Grove on Friday.
Reports say, the credentials Hawkins presented to identified herself while opening the account belonged to somebody else – and bank employees knew it – because they recognised her as appearing in the Netflix hit real-life prison drama.
Hawkins was arrested Friday on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, unlawful use of personal identifying information and violating her probation.
The teller told dispatch that she became suspicious of the woman and called police. A witness said they recognized the suspect as Hawkins from “Jailbirds,” a show that focuses on incarcerated women inside the Sacramento County Jail. When officers arrived at the scene, the suspect had walked out of the bank and left in a vehicle. Police then learned the vehicle the woman had was reported stolen, reports FoxLA.
Authorities said Hawkins was detained after being located a short distance from the bank. Officers then conducted a search of her vehicle and discovered several credit cards in different individuals names. She was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance.
She was booked into the city’s main jail.
