MONTGOMERY, NY. (THECOUNT) — Heather Morgan and Derick Jones, both of Beacon, NY, have been identified as the woman and man killed early Friday in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 84, state police said.
According to police, Morgan was operating a Dodge Journey with Jones was a passenger traveling on I-84 near Maybrook, when for unknown reasons, the SUV crossed centerlines and veered into the center median. The Journey then struck a tree.
Morgan and Jones were pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt for trauma injuries.
A crash report noted neither victim was wearing a seat belt.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
