WINONA, TX. (THECOUNT) — Olivia Monteagudo has been identified as one of three people found shot to death inside a Winona residence Monday afternoon.

A mother, father, and the 8th-grade student of Winona ISD, were found deceased inside their home on the 900-block of Dallas Street following a Monday welfare check.

Officials on scene discovered three individuals suffering from gunshot injuries.

Officials say the deaths are likely a result of a murder-suicide.

All three will be autopsied Tuesday or Wednesday to determined an official cause of death.

Winona ISD became concerned when Monteagudo wasn’t in school Monday morning. After calling the home and receiving no answer, law enforcement went to check on the family, reports myhighplains.

“We did a welfare check and found three deceased individuals inside the residence,” says Sheriff Larry Smith, with the Smith County Sheriff’s office, during a press conference Monday afternoon.

“Winona ISD is heartbroken by the loss of one of our students today. On Monday, May 6th, Winona ISD was notified that 8th grader Olivia Monteagudo was found deceased in her home.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends during this difficult time. Counselors will be made available for staff and students as needed throughout the week. We are asking that all counselors, youth pastors, and pastors meet in the Middle School Library tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m..
