CHRISTOPHER, IL. (THECOUNT) — Christopher, Illinois firefighter Kody Vanfossan has been identified as the victim killed in the line of duty early Sunday morning.
Vanfossan died while fighting a multi-alarm commercial fire in Christopher, IL, according to fire officials.
The Franklin County Emergency Management office took to Facebook to announce the sad news of the firefighter’s passing:
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Kody’s family, friends and fellow members of the Christopher Fire Department,” the department said in its Facebook post.
Kody was a volunteer firefighter with the department, reports KWQC. According to social media Kody was a production worker at Nascote Industries.
The Franklin County Emergency Management Agency has sent crews to the city to assist and support the community.
