GRAY, ME. (THECOUNT) — Samantha Rinaldi has been identified as the pedestrian struck and killed by a drunk driver in Gray, Maine, Saturday night.
Rinaldi, 40, was on-foot in the area of 39 Yarmouth Road, in Gray, Maine on Saturday before 8 p.m., when she was fatally struck by a vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 58-year-old Jay Westra, of North Yarmouth, ME. He was arrested on the scene and accused of drunken driving.
Westra’s passenger, his young daughter, was in the vehicle at the time of the crash and suffered unknown injuries. Her condition was not provided.
Cumberland County deputies said Rinaldi was found unresponsive in the road upon arrival, reports WABI.
Rinaldi was transported to an area hospital where she later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Westra was transported to the Cumberland County Jail.
