PERRY TOWNSHIP, PA. (THECOUNT) — Cody Downs, Jackson Center, Pa, has been identified as the victim in a fatal ATV crash in Perry Township Saturday afternoon.
Downs, 23, was operating an ATV along with a passenger traveling on Smith Road in Hadley around 2:47 p.m. Saturday, when for unknown reasons, he lost control and exited the roadway. He then continued until colliding with a substantial tree stump.
Investigators say the driver and his passenger were thrown off of the ATV upon impact, reports WKBN.
Downs, of Jackson Center, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger, 23-year old Doulas Hawks, of Sandy Lake, was taken by helicopter to the hospital for serious injuries. He current condition was not provided by officials.
According to officials, neither of the victims were wearing helmets.
