KENYA. (THECOUNT) — Family, friends, and fans are remembering the achievements of a former television host, Soni Methu, whose life was unexpectedly cut short on April 11.
Methu, 34, host of CNN International feature program called “Inside Africa” from 2014 to 2015 until the show transitioned to a new format that no longer required a human presenter.
The journalist reportedly suddenly collapsed while in Kenya and died on the way to hospital, according to a statement published by CNN.
Kenyan journalist Soni Methu, the one-time host of CNN’s “Inside Africa,” has died at the age of 34.
Soni’s friends and colleagues found her to be full of energy and very kind to all people she came across throughout her travels, with the ability to light up a room with her personality, reports EpochTimes.
Soni was the first Kenya-born presenter to host “Inside Africa” and will be remembered for being very proud and passionate about keeping the world informed about her homeland.
Some of her fans said on social media how much more informed they became through her reporting.
Soni formerly worked as East Africa correspondent at eNCA in South Africa for two years. Some of her most memorable work includes reporting on the Westgate Mall terrorist attack in the Kenyan capitol of Nairobi and other major events throughout the nation.
