DEKALB COUNTY, GA (THECOUNT) — Officials have confirmed that the suspect in a killing Monday in Dunwoody, Georgia, who later died in a vehicle wreck, was popular McNair County high school teacher, Roy McClendon-Thompson.

Dunwoody police said that McClendon-Thompson shot and killed 45-year-old James Curtis Jones in the Arrive Perimeter apartment complex, located at, 2000 Asbury Square, in Atlanta, GA, early Monday.

Authorities believe the victim and McClendon-Thompson knew each other, but have not released the details of their relationship, reports WSBTV.

McClendon-Thompson died in a crash after trying to get away from officers, police said.
