Longtime UT FOX 13 Anchor ‘Hope Woodside’ Arrested DUI Twice In 2 Days

SALT LAKE CITY, UT. (THECOUNT) — Former longtime FOX 13 Utah news anchor Hope Woodside was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol twice in two days.

According to arresting documents, Woodside, 57, was arrested on March 29 after police received a call of a suspected drunk driver in the Silver Summit area of Utah.

Deputies observed Woodside traveling along the shoulder of the roadway and making a right-hand turn without signaling. During contact with Woodside, the deputy said he could smell the odor of alcohol coming from her car.

According to the arresting document, Woodside refused to take a breathalyzer, so a field test was conducted, which the deputy said she failed, reports ABC4.

In a search of her car, officers found a soda can with approximately 1/4th full of an alcohol and a bottle of wine was located behind the front passenger seat on the floor.

Woodside was booked into the Summit County Jail and is facing charges of DUI, open container and failure to signal.

The very next day, troopers were dispatched to I-80 west near the Jeremy Ranch exit just before 11 p.m. on a report of a vehicle that had run off the road.

Upon arrival, troopers located Woodside in the back seat of the car.

The trooper said when Woodside exited the vehicle, she stumbled and struggled to maintain her balance and her eyes were red and glossy.

The trooper said Woodside could not hold a steady breath to do the BAC test so she performed a field sobriety test, which she failed.

During a search of her car, the trooper found an open container of alcohol.

She was booked into the Summit County Jail and is facing additional charges of DUI, open container and failure to operate in a single lane.

Documents state Woodside has a “prior history” of driving under the influence.

Woodside was a news anchor for Fox 13 for more than 20 years and had worked in the industry for 35. She made the decision to leave her job at Fox 13 in September 2018.
