IL Teen Ean Michael Reinold ID’d As Human Remains After 2017 Pittsfield Jon Boat Accident

PITTSFIELD, IL. (THECOUNT) — The human remains found back in August 2018 are that of missing teen Ean Michael Reinold, of Quincy, Illinois.

Authorities say DNA analysis has confirmed that human remains found last year along the Mississippi River are those of a western Illinois man who went missing after a boat sank in 2017, reports WREX.

The Herald-Whig in Quincy reports that the Pike County Sheriff’s Department received confirmation Friday that the remains are those of 17-year-old Reinold.

The Quincy man was 19 when he vanished in October 2017 after a Jon boat he and two other people were in sank in the Mississippi River after being hit by a wave. The boat’s two other occupants were rescued, but Reinold disappeared.

Sheriff David Greenwood says Reinhold’s remains were found last August along the river near Hull, Illinois.

Identification was made using a DNA analysis with assistance from Reinold’s family, Illinois State Police and others.
