DALLAS, TX. (THECOUNT) — Days after announcing on social media that he was being screened for throat cancer, Cowboys great Michael Irvin announced on Instagram that he was cancer free.

Irvin’s posted the diagnosis on Instagram: “Thank you God for continuing to answer Prayers and Thank you ALL for Praying. I spoke with Dr St John at UCLA Medical and she has informed me that all test have come back 100!% clean. NO CANCER!!!!!! It is impossible to express my family and my appreciation for the overwhelming out pour of love, support and prayers. I was on my threshing floor dealing with the stronghold of fear. You all covered and encourage me. To God be the Glory”

NFL Hall of Famer and Dallas Cowboys legend, Michael Irvin, announced on Instagram he recently underwent testing for throat cancer.

Irvin, 56, made the announcement Tuesday saying earlier this week he underwent cancer biopsy testing and is now nervously awaiting the results.

Irvin admitted he is scared of what the results might be. His father died from throat cancer at the age of 51. He asked for people’s prayers.

“This demon has chased and vexed me deep in my spirit all my life. So saying I am afraid this time is a big big understatement. I AM TERRIFIED!!” Irvin wrote, reports Fox4News.

Irvin said problems with his voice caused him to visit doctors and they opted to schedule a biopsy on his throat to see if there could be more serious problems.

“Could you please send up a prayer to help my family and I deal with whatever the results may be? Thanks for your thoughts and prayers in advance. I will continue to pray for your fams protection and prosperity as well. May God Bless us all,” Irvin wrote.

Irvin played 12 seasons for the Cowboys as wide receiver, winning three Super Bowls as part of the famed “Triplets.” He retired after the 1999 season due to an injury.
