PARKLAND, FL. (THECOUNT) — Following the suicide of Sydney Aiello, a second student who survived the Parkland school shooting committed suicide on Saturday, Coral Springs police confirmed to the members of the press.
The student, who name was not provided, was a male and a current sophomore at Marjory Stoneman Douglas (MSD) High School, where a mass shooting killed 17 people on Valentine’s Day in 2018.
As we reported, Aiello, 19, took her own life March 17, just more than a year after the deadly Feb. 14, 2018 school shooting.
Investigators told the Miami Herald the student died from an apparent suicide Sat., March 23.
Aiello’s mother said her daughter took her own life, that she was close friends with shooting victim Meadow Pollack, that she felt “survivor’s guilt” and was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
