KINGSPORT, TN. (THECOUNT) — Sammy P. Fanning has been identified as the Kingsport, Tennessee man killed after after a motorcycle he was operating was involved in a collision with a vehicle Wednesday evening on Interstate 81.
Fanning, 46, was traveling on a Harley-Davidson around 6:30 p.m. at the I-81 and I-26 interchange, when he collided with a merging Mitsubishi Eclipse traveling in the same direction.
The impact caused the motorcycle to lose control and Fanning was elected from the bike.
He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead on multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
The driver of the Mitsubishi, 29-year-old Richard Estep, was not injured, reports WJHL.
KPD says the crash remains under investigation.
