GLASSBORO, NJ. (THECOUNT) — Famed WWE wrestler King Kong Bundy, who took on Hulk Hogan in the iconic 1986 steel cage match at WrestleMania 2, has died. He was 61.
Bundy, whose real name was Christopher Pallies, died on Monday, according to promoter and longtime friend David Herro.
Herro posted on Facebook : “Today we lost a Legend and a man I consider family.” The cause of death and other details were not disclosed.
Pallies was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The 6-foot-4, 458-pound wrestler made his World Wrestling Federation debut in 1981.
Bundy, who was perhaps best known for facing Hogan in WrestleMania 2, a match in which Hogan won, also had guest appearances on the sitcom “Married…with Children,” according to KABC.
He was planning to appear next month at WrestleCon in New York City.
