Beloved Beachwood HS Ohio Math Teacher Art Gugick Killed In Saturday Uber Crash

BEACHWOOD, OH. (THECOUNT) — Art Gugick has been identified as the victim killed in a crash Saturday night.

Beachwood City Schools confirmed the loss of beloved Beachwood High School math teacher on Sunday.

Gugick and a passenger were traveling in an Uber when they were struck by a driver who ran a red light. The passenger, who was not identified, was also killed in the crash.

Superintendent Bob Hardis wrote on Facebook that Gugick was tragically killed in a car crash on Saturday night:

“Dear Beachwood Community,

With great sadness we are informing you that Art Gugick, our high school math teacher, was killed in a car accident Saturday night. Mr. Gugick and a passenger were in an Uber that was struck by a driver who ran a red light. Both he and the passenger were killed.

At this time, we are in contact with Mr. Gugick’s family, but do not yet know about his funeral arrangements. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. Our staff have been made aware of this tragedy and we are putting supports in place for them and for our students tomorrow.

We will pull together as a community to support Mr. Gugick’s family and to support one another through difficult circumstances.

NC Man Earl Sinclair Jr. Arrested After Woman Found On Road Claims Held Captive 3 Months

ST. PAULS, NC. (THECOUNT) — Earl Sinclair Jr. has been identified as the suspect charged with rape and kidnapping after a woman said she had been held captive for three months, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Department.

Sinclair, aka, Romulus Arkbar Sinclair, was arrested on March 27 and charged with first-degree forcible rape, crimes against nature, first-degree kidnapping, second-degree kidnapping and possession of firearm by a convicted felon. He is being held in the custody of the Durham County Detention Facility without bond.

According to a Facebook post from the Sheriff’s office, the investigation began on March 20. The victim was found in the road, after jumping out of a car driven by Sinclair in the St. Pauls area.

The victim, who has not been identified, reported that she was held captive in her bedroom by Sinclair and sexually assaulted on multiple occasions over the past three months, reports ABC13.

Sinclair had been wanted by the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office for multiple felonies occurring from Dec. 22, 2018, to March 21, 2019.

Nipsey Hussle Dead After Shot Outside Los Angeles Clothing

LOS ANGELES, CA. (THECOUNT) — Rapper Nipsey Hussle has reportedly been shot and killed outside of his own clothing store in Los Angeles according to TMZ. The shooting occurred Sunday near the Hyde Park neighborhood in south of Crenshaw in the city, with reportedly three people shot during the incident.

According to TMZ, sources said the rapper was shot in the Hyde Park neighborhood outside his clothing store – Marathon Clothing Company.

The shooting allegedly happened around 4 p.m. local time.

FL Woman Isabel Borges ID’d As Victim In Sunday Port St. Lucie Motorcycle-VS-Vehicle DUI Crash

ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FL. (THECOUNT) — Isabel Borges has been identified as the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash involving a DUI driver in Port St. Lucie Sunday.

Borges, 58, was traveling on a Harley Davidson motorcycle on NW Selvitz Rd Port in St. Lucie just before 8.a.m., when she was struck by a Honda Civic, driven by 22-year-old Christian Zachery White of Fort Pierce.

White reportedly attempted to pass a minivan in a non-passing zone and collided head-on into Borges’ Harley.

According to officials, White appeared “extremely” impaired. His passenger, whose name has not been released, was unconscious and unresponsive. They were both transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Borges was thrown from the bike during the collision and pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force injuries.

A crash reported noted that the victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

White was charged with vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter, and possession of MDMA, reports WPTV.

3 TX Sisters, Friend Die In Bastrop Crash On Way To HS Drill Team Competition, Mother In Critical

BASTROP COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — Three sisters — a high school junior, an eighth grader and a sixth grader — from Huntsville, Texas and their friend died in a two-vehicle accident in Central Texas as they traveled to watch a drill team competition in San Antonio, officials say.

Their mother, who was driving, was hospitalized in critical but stable condition. The fourth girl who died was a 2018 Huntsville High School graduate.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says the wreck happened Friday night on westbound Texas 21 near Bastrop. A pickup truck rear-ended the girls’ stopped vehicle waiting to turn, reports DFWCBS.

Authorities told CBS Austin that surveillance video shows the pickup truck not stopping “until .6 seconds prior to the crash, indicating possible distraction (cell phone) in the vehicle.”

The Huntsville Independent School District released a statement on Facebook that said three siblings died.

“The Huntsville ISD community is deeply saddened to learn of the deaths of three of our students and one former student as a result of a car accident that occurred in Bastrop County late Friday evening,” the district said. “…The death of any young person, much less four, is a loss that, in one way or another, affects us all.”

The identities of the victims have not yet been released.

DPS says the pickup driver and a passenger weren’t hurt.

IL Teen Ean Michael Reinold ID’d As Human Remains After 2017 Pittsfield Jon Boat Accident

PITTSFIELD, IL. (THECOUNT) — The human remains found back in August 2018 are that of missing teen Ean Michael Reinold, of Quincy, Illinois.

Authorities say DNA analysis has confirmed that human remains found last year along the Mississippi River are those of a western Illinois man who went missing after a boat sank in 2017, reports WREX.

The Herald-Whig in Quincy reports that the Pike County Sheriff’s Department received confirmation Friday that the remains are those of 17-year-old Reinold.

The Quincy man was 19 when he vanished in October 2017 after a Jon boat he and two other people were in sank in the Mississippi River after being hit by a wave. The boat’s two other occupants were rescued, but Reinold disappeared.

Sheriff David Greenwood says Reinhold’s remains were found last August along the river near Hull, Illinois.

Identification was made using a DNA analysis with assistance from Reinold’s family, Illinois State Police and others.

Missing IN Man Ted Merkley ID’d As Body Found Sunday In Indianapolis Following Silver Alert

INDIANAPOLIS, IN. (THECOUNT) — Ted Merkley, the Carmel Indiana man who was the subject of a Silver Alert on Friday, has been found deceased, officials said Sunday.

Merkley, 57, who was last seen on Thursday afternoon, was the subject of the subsequent Silver Alert issued early Friday morning.

The alert was canceled around 10 p.m. Friday. At that time, Carmel police confirmed Merkley had been found in Indianapolis but would not speak to his condition, reports WISHTV.

Merkley was pronounced deceased at the scene and officials are awaiting the results of testing performed by the Marion County Coroner’s Office to determine a cause of death.

No additional information was immediately provided by officials.

It is unclear where he was found or by whom.

URGENT: 3 KY Kids With ‘No Connection’ Go Missing Friday Saturday And Sunday Within 3 Mile Radius Of Laurel County

LAUREL COUNTY, KY. (THECOUNT) — Laurel County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating the three juveniles who went missing within a few days of each other within a three-mile radius of each other. Officials say the kids share “no connection” to each other.

15-year-old Mark Fields was last seen Friday evening around 6 p.m. approximately five miles south of London, Kentucky, Dalton Robinson, 17-years-old, was last seen early Sunday morning at approximately 12:05 a.m. Officials say that Robinson was last seen about seven miles south of London and 12-year-old Lindsey Couch is the third child reported missing. Sheriff’s say that Couch was last seen around 12:53 a.m. approximately 8 miles south of London.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says there is no apparent connection between the three cases.

Longtime Dallas County IA EMS Paramedic Dan Lindsay Dies Following Off-Duty Medical Condition

ADEL, IA. (THECOUNT) — Dallas County Paramedic, Dan Lindsay, has been identified as the first responder who died following an undisclosed medical condition.

Lindsay, whose are was not provided, was a 19-plus year paramedic at Dallas County EMS, in Adel, Iowa.

No other information on a cause of death was made available.

Coworkers at Dallas County EMS took to Facebook to remember Lindsay:

“It’s with a heavy heart this morning that we announce the passing of Paramedic Dan Lindsay. Dan passed away from a medical condition while off duty. Dan will be sorely missed by his Dallas County EMS coworkers and the lives that he touched here in his 19 plus years. Rest easy brother, we’ll take it from here.”

Friends and family members also took to Facebook to remember the beloved man:

He was caring, loyal, hard working, funny, great attitude, not to mention an awesome and skilled Paramedic. It’s with a very heavy heart that I have to say RIP Dan Lindsay………you will be missed……”
