“Lucy The Dog” Reunited With IL Owners After Involved In Serious Weekend Plainfield Crash

PLAINFIELD, IL. (THECOUNT) — Lucy The Dog, an animal that went missing following a semi-truck rollover crash in Plainfield, Illinois over the weekend, has happily been located and reunited with his family.

According to police, Lucy was described as a black mouth cur and had been missing since she ran off from the crash on Ridge Road between Route 126 and Plainfield Road at around 2 p.m. Sunday.

On Wednesday evening, Plainfield police reported that Lucy had been located, reports Patch on Wednesday.

“We are happy to report Lucy, the dog who has been on the loose for a few days after the truck she was riding in overturned, has been reunited with her owners,” police said, thanking everyone who shared Lucy’s story in the hopes of finding her.

The good news came after false information was posted on Facebook saying Lucy had been found deceased underneath the semi. Lucy’s owner said that wasn’t the case, and while Lucy is microchipped, she wasn’t wearing any tags when she went missing.

The owner, a Florida resident, said he was taken from the crash scene via ambulance and was having a procedure for injuries to his arm, and did not have the means to get back to the crash scene to look for his dog. No one else was hurt in the crash.
