CAMPBELL COUNTY, VA. (THECOUNT) — Carleigh Shae Singleton of Nathalie, Virginia, has been identified as the victim in a fatal three-vehicle crash in Campbell County Sunday.
Singleton, 17, was operating a Chrysler 200 traveling on VA-40 near Swinging Bridge Road, in Campbell County, when for reasons still unconfirmed, lost control and crossed centerlines at around 12 a.m. on Sunday.
The Chrysler then spun out and struck a 1998 Ford Ranger traveling in the opposite direction, head-on, according to state police. The Chrysler then struck a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The violent collision sent two people to the hospital in Campbell County.
Singleton was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force injuries.
A crash report noted the victim was wearing a seatbelt.
The drivers of the other two vehicles were taken to Lynchburg General Hospital. They are both expected to survive., reported WSLS.
State police say speed factored into the crash, which is still under investigation.
