MA Flight Instructor, Sydney Miti & Student Pilot Julian Lattermann ID’d As Victims In Saturday Mansfield Airport Double-Fatal Plane Crash

MANSFIELD, MA. (THECOUNT) — The two victims killed in a plane crash in Mansfield, MA, on Saturday afternoon have been identified as pilot, Sydney Miti, of Waltham, and his student, Julian Lattermann of Dover, according to the Massachusetts State Police.

Miti, 31, was oppearing a small plane serving as flight instructor with his 18-year-old student, when for unknown reasons, the aircraft crashed and caught fire after 2:00 p.m. at Mansfield Municipal Airport on Saturday.

The doomed plane apparently departed from Norwood Airport before crashing near Mansfield Municipal Airport, located on Fruit Street, in Mansfield, Massachusetts.

At about 12:36 p.m. today, a small plane crashed and caught fire at #Mansfield Airport. @MansfieldFireMA on scene and working on fire suppression. There are believed to be occupants onboard, but unknown number and condition at this time. Further information to follow.

Police later confirmed that the two individuals were involved had died from the injuries they suffered in the crash and resulting fire. Boston25News reported Saturday evening.

The plane was owned and operated by Horizon Aviation of Norwood.

No mayday call was made, and first responders said the pair were found dead on arrival.

The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed Saturday afternoon that they would be investigating the incident, saying they would be sending someone to look into the crash as early as Sunday morning.
